Much of our work as a global community is organised around focus groups as outlined below.  Each group has a convenor responsible for steering the strategic direction of the group, as well as planning and coordinating overall effort.

Marketing & Communications

Key Focus

  • Develop and implement marketing and communications plan.

  • Internal and external audience groups.
  • Ongoing management/coordination of marketing and communications.

NB: We will meet as a single group for initial strategy and planning and likely break off into sub-groups around key focus areas.

Who should join
Anyone with strategic and/or tactical experience and interest in one or more of the following key areas:

  • Brand strategy
  • Content marketing (strategy, planning, delivery)
  • Social (strategy, planning, delivery)
  • Communications (strategy, planning, delivery)
  • Experience/journey mapping
  • PR/media
  • Copywriting, incl. digital, pitch documents, presentations, case studies, etc.

Women's Leadership

Key Focus

  • Initial focus will be working with a small group of women from the International Committee of the Red Cross, helping establish a support network and, where appropriate, providing mentoring.

Who should join
Anyone with strategic and/or tactical experience in women's leadership initiatives and/or mentoring in a professional setting.

Strategic Events

Key Focus

  • Strategy and plan for conferences, panels, etc. to be targeted for both GWL and ICRC.

  • How to best leverage through participation, collaborations, content, etc. to further GWL/ partner organisations’ objectives.

Anyone with strategic and/or tactical experience and interest in one or more of the following key areas:

  • Strategic engagement, relationship, negotiation.
  • Convening/organising conferences, panels, etc.
  • Representation from each key geography

Digital Platforms

Key Focus

    • Design, develop and implement digital platforms for interim solution

    • Plan and gather requirements for long-term solution

    Seed Capital & Funding

    Key Focus
    Source funding to support GWL operations including:

    • Review and recommend funding opportunities/strategy.

    • Recommend 'pitch' requirements (eg: flyer for private/corporate donors, sponsors, etc.) and provide input to development of same.

    • Leverage network to secure funding/donations/sponsorships.

    • Prepare and monitor grant/other applications for submission.

    • Liaise with Strategic Events focus group to identify any funding opportunities via strategic events.

    Who should join
    Anyone with strategic and/or tactical experience and interest in one or more of the following key areas:

    • Major fundraising.

    • Corporate sponsorships.
    • Crowdfunding campaigns.
    • Grants research and applications.
    • Pitch development.

    We also ask that anyone with connections that may help facilitate fundraising and/or sponsorships get in touch.  You may not have the capacity or desire to join the group - however any connections/help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
